Carol has 25 years’ consultancy experience across all sectors, both in-house and as an independent consultant and coach. She combines her independent work with a complementary role in the NHS, as an Organisation Development and Leadership consultant in Leeds West Clinical Commissioning Group. She is a Trustee and champion for Equality and Diversity at Sheffield Theatres Trust.
She coaches those in middle and senior leadership roles – mainly in the public sector – and those who have recently made, or want to make a shift from operational to strategic roles. She helps people to both address key issues (such as leading and motivating others and leading change) and also to develop the skills, behaviours and confidence to be more effective and influential with others.
In addition to her leadership development work with mixed groups of both women and men, Carol is passionate about diversity and inclusion and has specialist expertise in women’s leadership development. Her experience in this area includes: coaching women at all levels and designing and leading women’s leadership programmes for the Environment Agency; Chartered Institute for Personnel & Development (CIPD); Public Sector Management Wales; Spectrum Housing; Henry Boot Construction, and the Welsh Assembly Government.
She has extensive experience of developing individuals and teams at senior level in the public sector including: one-to-one development of board members within NHS Foundation Trusts using a 360-degree board development tool; design and delivery of leadership development programmes for senior managers to address their leadership style(s) and its impact on climate and organisational performance (in the Civil Service, NHS and housing sector); team coaching (on vision, strategy and values; understanding and working effectively with others; and handling conflict) and the design and design and facilitation of network events for leaders to share best practice.
